There’s nothing like a delicious home-cooked meal to satisfy your hunger but when you’re hungry, it’s hard to wait. What should you do? Maybe you’re thinking about ordering some takeout but I know you’d rather save your money and cook with what you already have. Here are 6 Hacks To Save You Time In the Kitchen.

Buy Canned Food

Canned foods are already pre-cooked, so all you have to do is heat it up and mix it into your meal. You might overlook canned foods if cooking from scratch is the norm in your household but it can really help to speed up prep time. For example, in my household, we cook rice and beans often and we have always gone the route of boiling dried beans but one day we decided to try canned beans, and we were amazed at how quickly the rice and beans cooked. Now we no longer have to wait for a few hours to have rice and beans. It’s a game-changer!

Buy Frozen Food

Frozen foods are another time-saving option, next to canned food. Do you often use ingredients such as beans, peas, squash, onions, peppers, carrots, mixed vegetables…in your meals? Well, all these ingredients are available in the freezer aisle at your supermarket. These ingredients are precleaned, cut, and neatly packaged to make cooking convenient and fast.

Meal Prep

Some people meal prep but some don’t. I honestly don’t always get to do this but when I do it really saves me time in the kitchen. Take an hour or two out of your time to chop up some onions and peppers. Prepare your seasoning in a jar and refrigerate it. Really, just focus on ingredients you use frequently and have them ready so all you have to do is throw it in a pot.

Another way you can meal prep is to completely cook your meal then freeze it. Cooking and freezing will save you the most time in the kitchen. The next time you’re hungry, all you have to do is heat your food up and get ready to eat. And since your food was in the freezer, it will maintain its freshness.

Use Kitchen Tools

If you didn’t have time to prepare your food, take advantage of kitchen tools like a blender, an electric kettle ( this is my fav and most used kitchen tool), a can opener, a chopper, a rice cooker, pressure cooker, cake mixers… They are all time-savers in the kitchen.

Use Up Leftovers

Cooking a meal with your leftovers is a smart way to save money and time. That leftover baked chicken that you had yesterday can be incorporated into a creative new meal. Maybe you can make chicken soup, chicken salad, chicken fajita… And since leftovers are precooked, that cuts down on the time to prepare your next dish.

Use Non-Stick Cookware

The last hack to save time in the kitchen is to use non-stick pots and pans. Non-stick cookware just makes the cleaning step easy and makes preparing your next meal a breeze. There’s nothing worse (okay it’s not the worst thing but it’s annoying) after cooking then slaving in the kitchen sink to remove food stuck at the bottom of the pot.

Hope these 6 hacks will save you time in the kitchen. Let me know if you find any of these hacks helpful. Have you tried any of these before?
